Sydney Hospital Eye Clinic and Combined Tissue Bank
Client: NSW Health – South Eastern Sydney Local Health District
Location: Sydney CDB
Description: Gran Associates were engaged to design two new facilities to be housed in the existing heritage-listed northern wing of Sydney Hospital. The Bicentennial Eye Clinic introduces a new model of care for this extremely demanding specialisation. We based our design for the new corneal and retinal clinic on world’s best practice. The Combined Tissue Bank includes a new reception area, single-person and open plan offices, a new laboratory, a private room for donations, specialty storage facilities (including storage for donated tissues) and a meeting room. This project demanded careful consideration of heritage issues to be balanced alongside very specialised spatial and equipment requirements and the need for an efficient patient flow.
Highly recommend and value the professional and personal approach by Gran Associates – the design and build process was a positive experience from start to end.

Gran have demonstrated … a dedication to ensuring the best reasonable project outcomes, irrespective of any difficulties encountered along the way. Gran’s fee proposals are fair and variation requests are always reasonable which make for easy agreement administration… Gran are excellent at attending to detail of the all-important coordination between site works and the requirements of specialist medical equipment vendors… Gran are meticulous in construction contract administration and diligent in closing our project defects and client variation requests.
